Harold J. Dias, Jr.
President
Telephone: (808) 597-1441
Fax: (808) 593-2149

WHEREAS Blue Man Group continues to refuse to bargain with any trade union in North America; and

WHEREAS we recognize and commend the creation of a historic coalition consisting of
Canadian Actor's Equity Association (CAEA), the Toronto Musicians' Association,
Local 149 American Federation of Musicians (AFM), and Locals 58 and 822 of the
International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE), in response to Blue
Man Group's new non-union production in Toronto; and

WHEREAS the American Federation of Musicians of the United State and Canada has placed Blue Man Group on its International Unfair List, and Screen Actors Guild has formally asked its members not to audition for or accept work from the Blue Man Group; and

WHEREAS every major theatrical producer in Toronto adheres to agreements with CAEA, AFM Local 149, and IATSE Locals 58 and 822; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that the Hawai'i State AFL-CIO unequivocally supports and endorses the solidarity between CAEA, AFM, and IATSE, as demonstrated in Toronto, and calls on all members of its affiliates to refuse to attend any production of Blue Man Group in North America; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawai'i State AFL-CIO calls on all its affiliates and non-affiliates to support and sustain this boycott until Blue Man Group bargains agreements with unions across North America.

Adopted by the Hawaii State AFL-CIO Executive Board on August 11, 2005.
