Susan Wallace
Executive Director
Canadian Actors’ Equity Association
44 Victoria Street. l2th Floor
Toronto ON M5C 3C4

Dear Susan Wallace:

RE: BLUE MAN GROUP PRODUCTIONS

The following notice has been forwarded to the 10,000 plus members of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto.

Boycott Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group is an American theatrical producer which is planning to mount shows at the New Yorker theatre with no professional artists or technicians.

The group is refusing to negotiate contracts with Canadian Actors’ Equity, the Toronto Musicians’ Association and two locals of IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). This is an attempt to undercut legitimate local producers like Mirvish Productions (Da Kink in My Hair and Mamma Mia!, well known to ETT audiences) and CanStage.

Please support our sisters and brothers in resisting this Wal-Mart style intrusion into the Toronto theatre scene.

ETT will not arrange social events at Blue Man Group productions so long as they are unwilling to bargain collective agreements and the executive urges all members not to arrange school trips to these productions until further notice.

Yours in solidarity,

Martin Long
