The Canadian Conference of the Arts strongly supports artists' rights re:
negotiations with Blue Man Group

Dear Susan:

On behalf the Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA), I wish to express our support to all associations and unions who represent professional performers, artists, musicians, directors, technicians in Toronto. As of today, the producers of the Blue Man Group have refused to bargain contracts with Toronto's major theatrical associations and unions: Canadian Actors' Equity Association (CAEA), the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the Toronto Musicians' Association (TMA).

The Blue Man Group should respect Canada's rules: every major producer in Toronto adheres to agreements with Equity, IATSE and the TMA. This reflects the Canadian tradition, which has always ensured that our community's artists and technicians are dealt with fairly, equitably and respectfully.

The CCA represents the sound of 250 000 artists speaking. The core of our action is dedicated to improving the working conditions and the quality of life for artists, the arts and the cultural industries in Canada.

Yours sincerely,
Jean Malavoy
